Studying Print in 6th Class C

Mr Davis’ class has been very busy studying print in Art. During the Autumn we looked at wallpaper designs created by the artist William Morris, which feature different print designs of flowers and plants. We attempted to create our own print, inspired by Morris, using the Autumn leaves that had fallen from the trees. We experimented with different techniques such as relief printing and rubbing.

We also tried to create our own block print by glueing different fabrics and textures to pieces of cardboard. We covered our cardboard creation in paint before pressing it onto a page. We had lots of fun and although some of our work didn’t turn out exactly as we had planned, we learned a lot about the printing process.
